DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist senior team members by creating financial plans and preparing materials for client meetings and follow-ups.
- Develop expertise in financial planning and gain familiarity with creating comprehensive plans tailored to client needs.
- Review client meeting notes and assist in post-meeting follow-ups
- Analyze client information to prepare reports and presentations
- Enter data into financial planning software and draft financial plans with guidance from senior advisors
- Respond to basic client inquiries and direct more complex questions to appropriate colleagues
- Facilitate client requests for fund transfers and account maintenance
- Ensure accurate cost basis information and complete necessary forms for account openings or updates
- Work with custodians to obtain information and manage service requests
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date information in the CRM system
- Generate and retrieve reports using the portfolio management system
- Assist in producing performance reports
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree
- Series 65 required within 3 months of start – HIG covers the cost of prep materials
- CFP designation expected within 3 years of start date – HIG will support your learning through conferences and other opportunities
- Strong understanding of evidence-based investment approach
- General knowledge of financial planning and financial analysis
- Strong teamwork, time management, and organizational skills

Lead Advisor
The Lead Advisor role is the cornerstone of our financial advisory team, responsible for building and maintaining deep, trusted client relationships while driving growth for the firm. This position involves diagnosing client needs, crafting financial plans, implementing tailored solutions, and providing leadership and direction. Lead Advisors manage the firm’s most significant relationships and contribute to business growth through exceptional client service/hospitality, new client acquisition, and strategic networking.
POSITION SUMMARY
Client Service & Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary advisor for assigned clients, helping them achieve their financial and life goals.
- Lead the development and execution of holistic, customized financial plans.
- Deliver exceptional service, managing complex financial situations and troubleshooting challenges.
- Oversee and implement planning decisions while delegating execution tasks to the client service team.
- Ensure all client deliverables—financial plans, analyses, presentations—meet the highest standards.
- Maintain consistent and proactive communication with clients to anticipate and address evolving needs.
- Collaborate with tax, legal, insurance, and other professionals to provide comprehensive financial services.
- Stay current on best practices, emerging trends, and regulatory requirements in financial planning.
- Maintain all necessary professional licenses and designations.
Team Leadership
- Guide and oversee a team that includes Service Advisors, Client Service Associates, and Analysts.
- Provide consistent feedback, mentorship, and development opportunities to junior team members.
- Contribute to firm-wide training programs to develop expertise across the advisory team.
Business Development & Growth
- Expand the firm’s client base by leveraging personal networks, referrals, and strategic partnerships.
- Execute a personal business development plan in alignment with the firm’s growth strategy.
- Strengthen the Hill Investment Group brand through active participation in firm-wide marketing initiatives.
- Engage with existing clients to create referral opportunities and foster long-term relationships.
Firm Development & Leadership
- Contribute to internal projects that enhance firm operations, culture, and client experience.
- Participate in key firm committees (e.g., Advisor Sandbox, IPC, Other).
- Lead initiatives that improve efficiency, performance management, or client engagement strategies.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience: 10+ years as a financial professional, including at least 5 years in a senior advisory or relationship management role.
- Expertise: Advanced knowledge of financial planning, wealth management, and behavioral coaching.
- Emotional Intelligence: Ability to guide clients through financial decisions at all life stages.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to connect with clients, simplify complex topics, and build trust.
- Analytical Skills: Detail-oriented with a strong ability to analyze and present financial solutions.
- Fiduciary Mindset: Committed to acting in the best interest of clients with integrity and confidentiality.
Education & Licensing
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Series 65 – Uniform Investment Adviser Law Exam required.
- CFP desirable

Lead Advisors are evaluated on their ability to retain and grow client relationships while contributing to firm-wide success. Measures of success may include:
- Revenue responsibility: Managing a segment/team typically aligned with HIG benchmarks (~$1,000,000+ in revenue).
- Client retention: Achieving firm-defined retention and satisfaction goals.
- New revenue generation: Growing the firm through new client acquisition and referrals (~$50,000+ in net new annual revenue).
- Strategic contribution: Advancing firm-wide initiatives, leadership development, and client experience improvements.
- Goal achievement: Successfully meeting individual and firm-wide growth targets.
- Cultural contributor: Lead morning zooms, add to internal conversations and attend company events with curiosity, resilience, and a collaborative spirit.
