Easy Money Management
When I was 5 or 6 years old, my older sister would tell me to save my money so that I wouldn’t have to ravage the house for a few quarters when the ice cream truck would come up our street.
Saving became an addiction, hoarding every coin or dollar I could get from gifts, chores, or Kool-Aid sales. After working on this for many months, I saved $99.75. When I shared this news with my grandpa, he didn’t say anything and just got up and went to the other room. He quickly returned with a quarter, handed it to me, and said, “Now you have $100!” I was thrilled, thankful, and couldn’t believe it. When I told my sister how much I had saved. She asked, “How do you have more than me?” My reply was, “You spent yours on ice cream!” From then on, I was reluctant to spend money on anything and was more interested in seeing how much I could save.
Family Matters
My family has always been an essential part of my life. We enjoy gathering, supporting each other, and having fun. We take family vacations annually and have several traditions, including extended family holiday gatherings.
My "Ah-Ha" Investing Moment
In High School, I had a math teacher who asked the class, “If you could be given a penny today and double it each day for one month, or $5,000, which would you rather have?” After one month, that doubling penny amounts to over $5.3 million. This was his intro to teaching us about the power of compounding. He said, “If you invested your money in the stock market and received a constant rate of return, you could easily be a millionaire by the time you’re in your retirement years.”
As young investors, the most significant and beneficial factor we had on our side was time.
Greatest Athletic Accomplishment

Travel Memories
A friend and I visited San Diego, CA, and on the first night there, we asked a resident about hiking nearby trails. She recommended the Ho Chi Minh Trail in La Jolla. The next day, we traveled to the trailhead and slowly descended. The path was quite intense, with steep grades and dangerous drop-offs. At one point, we were trying to decide if it was best to turn around and return or keep going. We kept going! After several close calls, we eventually reached the trail’s end on a beautiful beach. However, we quickly realized there was no way to get back to the top of the trail. The final obstacle of the trail was to repel down a 15-foot cliff with a rope to the ground.
Once safely on the beach, we asked a lone surfer how to return. He said we could walk a few miles in said direction, where we’d return to civilization and grab an Uber. Within a half mile of our unguided beach walk, we quickly noticed it wasn’t just a regular beach. It was, in fact, a nude beach!
