This week we celebrated Abby Crimmins’ second year with HIG and Scott Krajacic’s first. Abby, a huge asset to our team, has taken the reins from John Reagan and now leads the Client Service team. Millennials often get a bad rep for being lazy – but Abby continues to disprove that stereotype every day. Her standard of excellence, can-do attitude, and friendly demeanor have quickly earned the trust of our clients and her teammates alike. Scott is the leader of our Investment Policy Committee and by far the most in-shape member of our team! He has helped improve client relationships by providing clarity to complex questions through technical analysis.

In addition to celebrating anniversaries, we also said farewell to our summer intern, William Bartnett. He was a natural fit on the team and a positive energy source. We immerse our interns in important projects, gaining from their fresh perspective and ideas. William described his experience as “being surrounded by positive focus, growth mindset, and relentless agitation towards excellence.” William gifted our team a signed copy of William Danforth’s I Dare You for our HIG book collection. A quote from Danforth’s book: “I dare you, whoever you are, to share with others the fruits of your daring. Catch a passion for helping others, and a richer life will come back to you.” William will be missed.

We are serious about our mission to help investors take the long view, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t open to a little fun. “Fun” has been a core value since the founding of Hill Investment Group and the team at HIG had a moment of laughter this month when the famed sportscaster Joe Buck (lower right of image) was a surprise guest on our daily team Zoom call. His humor and impromptu “play-by-play” announcing of our team call gave us a memorable quarantine moment and a boost of energy that has yet to fade.

Being “Zoom Bombed” by a sports legend like Joe Buck made our May, but we’re also excited this month because we are celebrating the anniversaries of two All-Star members of the HIG team. Nell Schiffer (Sheriff) has cranked out three years and PJ McDaniel (McDoogle) has been making things happen for two years with the firm. PJ’s friendly demeanor and passion for extending evidence-based investing to everyone have made him an asset to our group. Nell puts her unique abilities to work by keeping us all in order. Beyond tending to the financial, compliance, and HR functions of our firm, “The Sheriff” is creating structure and workflows, allowing us to provide a higher service level to all of our clients.

This month we celebrated the anniversaries of three committed HIG team members. Buddy Reisinger (11 years), Henry Bragg (6 years), and Katie Ackerman (5 years) have unique abilities that make our firm better. Beyond their talents, we love them for the way they love our clients. We hope this is the last job any of them have!
